Glenn Cooper Counselling

A safe, secure and confidential place to be yourself

Welcome to my website

I am an independent Person-Centred Counsellor working from my home based garden therapy room located in the Walsworth area of Hitchin, Hertfordshire. There is ample free parking available nearby if you are driving or good public transport links, including local buses and Hitchin Railway Station which is less than a mile away.

I feel that valuing a client’s needs from the onset of working together is important for building the therapeutic relationship. By being able to offer daytime, evening and weekend sessions I feel I can best offer flexibility to meet individual needs.

I am fully insured, DBS checked and affiliated to a professional body which regulates and sets out legal and ethical frameworks within which I work.

How I can work with clients

Individual counselling sessions last for 1 hour. I offer a free initial 30 minute session as a chance to discuss your personal expectations of what you would like to achieve from the counselling.

Walk and Talk

This is a popular spring, summer and autumn outdoor based activity that draws on the natural calming beauty of nature and its positive therapeutic effects.

After an initial indoor session future sessions will be held in areas of natural beauty.

Youth, Young Person and Child Counselling

Young people may experience problems with friends, family or school, they may feel anxious, depressed, angry or scared and need to talk to someone, but find it difficult to talk to people they know.

I am an Enhanced DBS Checked counsellor.

Support Work

This incorporates working to support the whole family of young people experiencing

emotional difficulties by helping to develop strategies to create a more fulfilling family environment for all.

It can be effective in all school age group categories from primary to secondary.

My Approach
About me

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy ( and follow the best practice guidelines set out within their ethical framework

I obtained a BSc Honours degree in Psychology in 2016 before going on to complete the Level 4 diploma in Person-Centred Therapeutic Counselling.

Alongside my private practice I work as a student counsellor with the  Bedford College Group. I have previously also worked with students in both Secondary and Primary education.

My approach to counselling puts you, the client, in control.  You are the best person to know how events/experiences, past or present have impacted on your feelings, emotional well-being and mental health.

I see my role as being someone to walk beside you during your exploration of your thoughts, feelings and experiences while offering a safe, confidential and non judgemental environment to openly process.

Seeking help

Your mental health and well-being is within your control, although at this time it may feel that it is not and that negative thoughts are overpowering any chance of finding peace and happiness. A word I often hear used by client's when speaking about their experiences and feelings of life is 'overwhelmed', a definition of overwhelmed is to 'bury or drown beneath a huge mass of something, especially water'. Experiencing anxiety, depression or constant negative thoughts can feel like being washed over by large, unforgiving wild waves that give no thought for you and can leave you gasping for breath to survive.

I am able to offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment for you to explore past and present experiences that may cause that feeling of being overwhelmed.

I am conscious of how considering counselling may feel a daunting and overwhelming experience, finding the right counsellor that you feel comfortable to explore your thoughts and feelings with is vitally important. I am here to answer any questions that may help to relieve some of those feelings.

I also offer an initial free 30 minute no obligation consultation to allow us to talk about what your expectations from counselling would be and how we could best work together to enable you to fulfill those expectations.

Please contact me at for information or to arrange an innititail consultation.
